Applications
Contributing to Reductions in Electricity Consumption !
Overview

*1 Source: National Statistics 2006 issued by the Statistics Bureay,
Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
Electricity consumption is increasing all over the world as a direct consequence of rapid growth in the field of electronics.
Japan consumes 5.4% of the world's electricity, which amounts to 883 billion kWh every year.
This results in 375 million tons of CO2 being emitted on an annual basis.
In our role as a manufacturer of semiconductors, we at SANYO Semiconductor develop and manufacture our products using extremely low-power consumption technology, thereby contributing to reductions in electricity consumption.
Super low power consumption technology
SANYO Hard Wired Audio Codec, which achived extremely low-power consumption, for use in silicon audio equipment
- Conventional compression audio (e.g.. MP3) CODEC
-
- Realized by DSP software
- Reduction of operational frequencies is limited (from 40MHz onward)
- Power consumption is large (from 50mW)
- Very short battery life of the product
(About 30 hours of life for a size AA battery)
(About 15 hours of life for a size AAA battery)
- SANYO hardwire CODEC
-
- CODEC realized with H/W logic
- Decoding realized with 4 MHz to 16 MHz
- Power consumption is small (about 10mW)
- Longer battery life has been realized for the product
(150 hours was achieved for a size AA battery. Next target it 200 hours)
(80 hours was achieved for a size AAA battery.)
